The J&K Post Matric Scholarship 2025 is the central-state supported scholarship scheme drive for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students of Jammu & Kashmir, designed to reduce financial barriers and keep meritorious students in higher education. The scheme covers post-matric and post-secondary studies (from Class XI/after matric up to doctoral level), provides monthly maintenance allowances that differ for hostellers and day-scholars, and is disbursed through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and the UT’s nodal agency. Who can apply?
- The applicant must belong to an ST community as per the domicile State/UT (Jammu & Kashmir).
- Must have passed Matric/Higher Secondary or any higher exam from a recognized board/university.
- Parental/family income from all sources must not exceed rs 2,50,000 per annum.
- Student must have a bank account in a scheduled bank linked to Aadhaar and a mobile number for direct benefit transfer.
- Applicant must not be receiving any other overlapping scholarship from central/state sources.

Documents you must keep ready
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Aadhaar card (student)
- Domicile certificate of Jammu & Kashmir
- Marksheets / passing certificate of last qualifying exam
- Caste (ST) certificate issued by authorized government officer (Tehsildar or above)
- Income certificate of parent/guardian (issued by Tehsildar or equivalent)
- First page of the student’s bank passbook (account must be Aadhaar-seeded)
(Always upload clear, scanned copies only; mismatches in Aadhaar-bank linking or income proof are the most common reasons for rejection).
How to apply online
- Create/login to your account on the National Scholarship Portal at
scholarships.gov.in. - Choose the scheme: Post Matric Scholarship for ST students (UT: Jammu & Kashmir).
- Fill personal, academic and bank/Aadhaar details exactly as on documents.
- Upload scanned documents (photo, Aadhaar, domicile, income certificate, mark-sheet, bank first page, caste certificate).
- Preview, submit and note down the application ID for future tracking.
- For renewals, use the existing NSP application portal and update current-year marks and bank details.
